K-pop girl groups are making history on the Billboard 200 chart. In recent years, several girl groups have achieved impressive debuts on the chart, with some even breaking records.
The biggest album debut by a K-pop girl group on the Billboard 200 is “Ready To Be” by TWICE. The album debuted at number two on the chart in 2021, with 153,000 album-equivalent units sold. This was the highest-charting album by a K-pop girl group at the time, and it broke the record for the highest-selling album by a K-pop girl group in the United States.
Another notable debut is “GET UP” by NewJeans. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 in 2023, with 126,500 album-equivalent units sold. This was the highest-charting debut by a new K-pop girl group in Billboard 200 history.
