Brian (Joo Min-gyu 주민규), a member of the K-pop duo Fly to the Sky, known for his fastidiousness, recently discussed his views on marriage on a YouTube show. He stated he couldn't understand the idea of loving a partner's bad breath or body odor, and openly declared he chooses not to marry, sparking widespread discussion.
On May 5, a new video titled "Brian Visits Former Boyfriend's Friend Seo In-young's House (Trash House)" was released on Jewelry member Seo In-young's (서인영) personal YouTube channel, 《개과천선 서인영》. Brian appeared as a guest, and the two chatted about relationships, marriage, and living habits.
When discussing married life, Brian mentioned hearing people say, "If you're in love, you should love your partner's flaws, including their poop smell, bad breath, and even body odor." He chuckled, saying, "I really find that statement hilarious." He continued, "I can understand and tolerate it, but do I really need to 'love' these things?" He gave an example: if his partner was in the restroom, they could simply tell him, "I'll go in later, once the smell dissipates." He suggested that would be sufficient.

Brian further questioned, "If loving someone means enduring their poop smell, what kind of love is that?" He believes that respecting each other's personal space is truly important, rather than unconditionally accepting everything.
Beyond his views on marriage, Brian also shared his thoughts on cohabitation. He admitted he needs a lot of personal space, stating, "Why do you have to keep touching me when I'm sleeping? I also don't like people who are constantly clingy."

He also completely rejected the common romantic trope in K-dramas of a morning kiss right after waking up. He laughed, saying, "Waking up and having someone lean in to say 'Good morning,' I really can't accept that." Seo In-young, listening beside him, playfully teased, "Brother, you really should live alone." Brian responded without hesitation, "Of course!" amusing everyone on set.
Discussing living habits, Seo In-young also expressed similar sentiments, admitting she hopes to use separate bathrooms from her partner and cannot accept farting in front of each other. The two then discussed their respective thoughts on marriage and cohabitation.
Brian also revealed that his gradual acceptance of a single life is linked to an experience he had in Los Angeles, USA. He recounted visiting a famous fortune teller who told him, "You will live happily and joyfully." Brian initially misunderstood this as a hint about a short lifespan. However, the fortune teller later clarified that the true meaning was, "You will not have children, nor will you have a partner by your side."
However, Brian was not disappointed by this revelation. Instead, he admitted, "After hearing that, I actually felt relieved." This experience further solidified his belief that one can live a happy and free life alone.
Brian, 45, was born in 1981 and debuted in 1999 as a member of the male duo Fly to the Sky. He rose to fame with hit songs such as "Day by Day," "Sea of Love," "Missing You," and "Like a Man," and remains beloved by many fans today.
