K-Pop Boy Group NXMERCY Halves Members, Announces Hiatus Seven Months After Debut
NXMERCY, a four-member South Korean boy group, debuted in March 2026 with the digital single “Burn the Blue.” The group primarily held fan events in Japan, and three of its members had previously been active in other groups, including MustB, Challenger, and D.I.P.
However, just seven months after their debut, the group announced a major change in its lineup. On October 29, the agency confirmed that two members, Hawoon (하운) and Woojoo (우주), would be leaving the group, citing their desire to “embrace new challenges.” With the departure of half its original four members, the remaining members will suspend group activities to re-evaluate their future direction.
NXMERCY’s agency released a statement on October 29, thanking fans for their continuous support and announcing the decision to “temporarily halt group activities” after extensive discussions and meetings with the members.
The agency stated that Woojoo and Hawoon decided to pursue new challenges, thus concluding their activities with NXMERCY. The statement expressed gratitude for the valuable time and memories created during their tenure as members.
The agency also apologized to fans for the sudden news of the members’ departure and asked for their warm support as Woojoo and Hawoon embark on their new journeys.
The future of NXMERCY remains undetermined. The agency confirmed that the remaining members are carefully considering their individual future activities and directions, while also continuously discussing the group’s possibilities moving forward.
Notably, the agency explicitly outlined several potential scenarios for the group’s future, including resuming activities with new members, the current members reuniting at a later date, or even the group’s permanent disbandment.
The agency admitted that it is currently uncertain what form NXMERCY will take in the future. Therefore, the members will pause their activities to prepare for their respective paths. “The time we spent together as NXMERCY and the love and support from fans will always remain precious memories for us,” the agency stated. “Although this is a temporary halt, we hope to meet fans again with good news someday.”
With two members departing and the group entering a hiatus less than a year after debut, NXMERCY’s future — whether it involves a lineup change, a reunion of members, or disbandment — remains uncertain.
