Jeon Wook-min, Actress Jeon So-min's Brother, Rejects Offers to Avoid Riding Sister's Coattails

Jeon Wook-min (전욱민), 38, the younger brother of South Korean actress Jeon So-min (전소민), 40, has been frequently updating his personal Instagram recently. He shared that he has received numerous offers from the entertainment industry due to his identity as “Jeon So-min’s brother,” but has ultimately declined almost all of them. As he actively prepares to enter the acting world, he admitted that many people were not genuinely interested in him, but rather sought information about his sister, Jeon So-min, through him.

On the 25th, Jeon Wook-min uploaded a video titled “I wanted it, but I still refused” to his personal social media account, sharing his thoughts and struggles during his journey to become an actor.

He began the video by writing, “Numerous audition offers received by an aspiring unknown actor,” and revealed that after the video’s release, he was actively contacted by various parties, including reporters, TV stations, film companies, and brands, which initially excited him. Jeon Wook-min recalled his feelings at the time: “At first, I was really happy, thinking, ‘Has an opportunity finally come my way?’”

However, his perspective gradually shifted after speaking with them. He admitted, “They didn’t want me; they wanted ‘Jeon So-min’s brother.’” He further revealed that the primary purpose of most contacts was to gather information about his sister, Jeon So-min, through him.

Jeon Wook-min thus decided to decline all offers, stating, “I started this because I wanted to achieve my own dream, but it led to malicious reports circulating. To avoid causing any more harm to my sister, I rejected everything.”

He did, however, mention that a small number of offers were genuinely interested in “Jeon Wook-min himself” and not simply because he was Jeon So-min’s brother. He expressed emotionally, “To others, it might just be an insignificant contact, but to me, it was completely different. Because it was the first opportunity I received purely as ‘myself.’”

The video concluded with a scene of him on a phone call, though Jeon Wook-min did not disclose what offer was made.

He also quoted a classic line from the movie “The Shawshank Redemption” to encourage himself: “So today I worked out my lower body, shoulders, and arms. And I will never regret it.” This demonstrated his determination to continue pursuing his acting dream.

Jeon Wook-min was previously a bodybuilder and currently works as a fitness trainer while diligently preparing to enter the entertainment industry. In 2017, he first gained attention through the SBS show “Running Man” family special, and in 2022, he appeared on Channel A’s “The Strongest Man in the World” and MBC every1’s “Great Bae Taro.”
