BTS' Jung Kook Gets Specific About the Person He Wants Around Him — But It’s Not What Fans First Thought

BTS member Jung Kook (정국) recently spoke during a livestream about the kind of person he wants around him, laying out details from age and personality to interests and lifestyle habits. At first, it sounded almost as if he were revealing his “ideal type.” But the person he was actually describing did not appear to be a future girlfriend.

During the livestream, Jung Kook talked about the kind of person he hopes to have by his side, listing qualities including age, personality, hobbies and lifestyle. Because the description was so detailed, it was easy at first to think he was discussing his “ideal type.”

“There is a kind of person I’m looking for,” Jung Kook said. “I hope they’re around my age, enjoy a drink and are a little more talkative than me.” He continued, “I hope it’s someone who really likes to talk, someone more passionate and more energetic than I am. I also hope they care about their appearance and what they wear, and that they like working out. They have to like working out. That would be enough for me.”

A closer look at the context, however, shows Jung Kook was not announcing “requirements” for a future girlfriend. He was describing someone he thought would be a good fit to create content with him. In other words, he was talking about finding a work partner to join his video team.

In that context, Jung Kook’s highly specific criteria make more sense. Someone more talkative and full of enthusiasm could bring more energy and ideas to a shoot, while an interest in fashion and appearance could help with visually driven content.

His emphasis that the person “has to like working out” may also be tied to Jung Kook’s own lifestyle habits, suggesting future content could include fitness-related activities.

So while fans may have initially mistaken Jung Kook’s remarks for an “ideal type” reveal, they ultimately turned out to be about finding talent for his own video team.

As for anyone who meets those conditions, perhaps they will get a chance to submit a résumé if Jung Kook ever officially opens recruitment.
