Korean streamer and influencer “BJ Pi” (real name Kang Da-on, 강다온), who gained recognition through the online reality shows Money Game and Game of Blood 2, was recently reported to have attempted suicide and is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit. Her father confirmed on the 16th that his daughter engaged in self-harm the previous day due to the unexpected outcome of a court ruling, which caused her immense emotional distress. The news has since drawn significant attention across the Korean internet.

BJ Pi’s father, identified only by his surname Kang, disclosed via an online platform that his daughter became severely distressed after learning the verdict. She was hospitalized after consuming alcohol and a large quantity of medication and is currently in the intensive care unit. He also stated that he would stay by his daughter’s side to care for her and asked the public not to worry excessively.
Kerrigan May, a rapper and friend of BJ Pi, also shared their private conversations, revealing BJ Pi’s despair. She had messaged, “I love you, I hope you can avenge me, please avenge me.” Kerrigan May expressed anger upon hearing the verdict, questioning, “There were witnesses present that day, and evidence like CCTV. Why has Korean law become like this?”
The incident stems from a quasi-forcible indecency complaint BJ Pi filed in September 2024 against a married Texas Hold’em player, identified as Mr. A. She alleged that she was assaulted by him while intoxicated and reported the incident to the police.

BJ Pi had previously publicly described the events, stating that she left in a car with a female designated driver, and a friend saw them off to ensure they got into the vehicle. However, she later woke up to find herself in the car with Mr. A next to her, who allegedly engaged in inappropriate physical contact.
She recalled being startled and immediately pushed Mr. A away, repeatedly asking, “Why are you here?” and “Where is this?” to understand what had happened. She accused Mr. A of then giving an explanation she found unacceptable before driving back to the hotel.
BJ Pi also questioned why Mr. A, with whom she was not well acquainted, allegedly overheard her hotel information and then lied to her companions to follow her to the hotel, which made her feel deeply uneasy.
She also revealed at the time that Mr. A was well-known in the Texas Hold’em community and operated a YouTube channel, meaning they might encounter each other at future tournaments, which caused her fear. BJ Pi stated that she was greatly affected by the incident and had been receiving psychological treatment, ultimately deciding to file a complaint.
Furthermore, BJ Pi had previously made public recordings of a phone call, in which she confronted Mr. A about whether he had parked the car in an alley and touched her inappropriately in the back seat. She also accused him in an interview of putting his hand inside her clothes.
However, after deliberation, the court ultimately acquitted Mr. A in the first trial, which deeply distressed BJ Pi. After the verdict, she expressed her disbelief during a live stream, asking, “How could he be acquitted?” Now, with news of her alleged suicide attempt and hospitalization in the ICU, the entire case has once again garnered attention from Korean netizens.
BJ Pi is currently still receiving treatment in the hospital. Her subsequent physical condition and whether there will be further legal proceedings in the case remain to be seen.
