YouTuber Park Wi (박위), husband of former Secret member Song Ji-eun (송지은), recently ignited controversy by releasing CCTV footage related to a KTX train accident. As public debate continues, new allegations have surfaced online, with a netizen claiming to be Park Wi's high school classmate. The user alleged Park Wi's involvement in school violence during his student days and even claimed he was sent to a juvenile detention center. These claims, however, remain unverified and are based solely on online speculation.
Following a series of discussions, Park Wi and Song Ji-eun publicly apologized, but the controversy did not subside. Song Ji-eun recently continued filming for a program she regularly hosts. Unexpectedly, she became emotional while discussing family topics, breaking down in tears on air. Her visible sadness on camera quickly became a hot topic online in Korea, drawing public attention to the couple's recent string of controversies and the pressure they face.
As of the morning of the 17th, Park Wi's YouTube channel, "WeCLa," had 781 videos, a decrease of three from the previous day's 784. This follows earlier scrutiny when he privatized multiple videos during the initial controversy, leading to continued discussion as he once again removes content.
Coincidentally, the day before the video count decreased, Park Wi's wife, former Secret member Song Ji-eun, made a public appearance on the program 《새롭게 하소서》 (Please Make Me New). During the show, Song Ji-eun was moved to tears and offered comfort after hearing a mother, Kim Sung-ae (김성애), share the story of losing her 17-year-old son. She remarked, "Just as we call children 'angels,' I feel like an angel once came to this family." She also shared her hope: "I also wish to become a footprint that leaves the fragrance of Jesus in someone's life."
However, after the episode aired, the comment section was flooded with criticism directed at Song Ji-eun. Some netizens felt that her continued media exposure, while her husband's controversy remained unresolved, "did not look good." Comments urged Song Ji-eun to "deal with her husband's issues first before appearing publicly." Some even sarcastically twisted her phrase "footprint that leaves a fragrance" into "footprint that leaves laughter," sparking further controversy.
Due to the increasing number of such comments, the video's comment function was subsequently disabled. The production team did not officially state the reason for disabling comments. However, given the large volume of criticism targeting Song Ji-eun and Park Wi in the comment section, it is widely believed this action was taken to protect the guests and hosts from further malicious comments and to prevent the controversy from escalating.
On the other hand, many netizens defended Song Ji-eun, arguing that "this is Park Wi's own problem, and Song Ji-eun is merely an innocent party caught in the crossfire," believing that her husband's controversy should not be extended to her.
Park Wi's troubles began on the 21st of last month when he released CCTV footage on his YouTube channel showing him accidentally falling while disembarking from a KTX train. The video immediately drew widespread criticism, and public opinion quickly intensified.
Park Wi later apologized for the incident, stating, "I only viewed the mistakes that occurred while others were helping me from a negative perspective." He bowed his head in apology for his actions, but the controversy did not subside.
Affected by the incident, all of Park Wi's scheduled speaking engagements were canceled, and he announced his resignation as a Seoul City promotional ambassador. His YouTube channel's subscriber count also began to decline.
Furthermore, Park Wi had previously been criticized for privatizing 13 videos over a week after the controversy erupted.
According to Korean media reports, before the KTX incident, the "WeCLa" channel originally had 798 videos. On the 26th of last month, 10 videos disappeared at once, followed by another 3 videos on the 28th, leaving 785 videos.
Later, on the 14th, an old video allegedly "mocking visually impaired creator Han Sol (한솔)" resurfaced, and subsequently, one more video disappeared from the channel.
Now, with three more videos disappearing in a short period, public attention has once again been drawn to the changing number of videos on Park Wi's channel. However, there is currently no clear information confirming the specific reasons for these video deletions.
