Recently, the FIFTYFIFTY incident has been making hot headlines. On the 18th, according to SBS News reports, the Korean Music Copyright Association has decided to withhold the copyright fees for FIFTYFIFTY's song "Cupid". It has expressed a supporting stance for the representative, Jun Hong Chon, in the FIFTYFIFTY case.
The Korean Music Copyright Association announced that the decision to "reserve the right to pay copyright fees in case of copyright disputes" takes effect. The entertainment association also expressed, "It is a pity that FIFTYFIFTY is currently going through this situation, we hope that both sides can find a satisfactory solution as soon as possible, and not cause any further social disturbance."
The statement also says: "Representative Hong Jun is highly regarded in the industry as an excellent planner with honesty and creativity, especially his discovery and hard work in building the girl group FIFTYFIFTY, the astonishing achievement of entering the U.S. billboard charts, has once again pushed KPOP to the world, which is a model case."
"The association earnestly hopes that the power based on capital strength will not be dominated by other forces. In order to achieve more reasonable structure and the development of the industry, it will strive to avoid unpleasant incidents by rectifying related systems and principles. We hope ATTRAKT and its subordinate group FIFTYFIFTY can resolve their issues amicably and return as quickly as possible," appealing for members of FIFTYFIFTY to return to ATTRAKT.
"Cupid" is the first single released by FIFTYFIFTY on February 24 of this year. The official MV of "Cupid" has exceeded 100 million views, making it FIFTYFIFTY's first music video to reach this milestone.
"Cupid" made quite a splash upon release, reaching 10th place in the Melon TOP 100 chart, 9th in the Genie Real- Time Ranking, 22nd in Apple Music's Global Top 100, and 3rd on Spotify's Global Top Hits list.
Due to a contract dispute, the originally scheduled performance of the Barbie movie theme song "Barbie Dreams" by FIFTY FIFTY was cancelled. This includes all promotional tours in the United States and visits to Korea, all of which fell through.
