Hwang Jung-min Denies Affair Allegations, Accuser Claims Actor Invited Her Home and Made Intimate Remarks

South Korean actor Hwang Jung-min (황정민) has recently been embroiled in a private life controversy. A woman released multiple audio recordings and chat logs, claiming she had an extramarital affair with Hwang. The recordings allegedly feature Hwang making intimate remarks such as, “I really want to hug you,” and the woman further claimed they met privately at Hwang’s residence, sparking heated discussion online. However, Hwang’s representatives vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that the woman was not an affair partner but a long-term stalker against whom criminal charges had already been filed. Undeterred, the woman subsequently released more allegations, escalating the public dispute.

According to Hwang Jung-min’s agency, SAM Company, Hwang filed criminal charges against the woman, identified as 'A,' in August of last year for alleged violations of the Stalking Punishment Act. The court subsequently issued three separate restraining orders against A, prohibiting her from approaching Hwang, and handed down a summary judgment with a fine of 3 million won (approximately NT$70,000). However, A has appealed the ruling and requested a formal trial, with the case currently ongoing.

The incident began when A recently posted on social media, claiming to have had an extramarital affair with Hwang Jung-min and releasing an audio recording. In the recording, a man believed to be Hwang is heard saying intimate words like, “I really want to hug you,” which quickly ignited public discussion.

A stated that their relationship lasted from August 2023 to the end of 2024. She claimed they first met and exchanged contact information at a premiere for the film Smugglers in July 2023. The following month, they met again for drinks at a bar in Dongbu Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

She further revealed that before Hwang traveled to Romania for filming in September of the same year, they met again for drinks at Incheon Airport. Hwang allegedly suggested they co-found an alcohol brand, and they met two more times afterward. However, she emphasized that they never had sexual relations.

A stated that Hwang Jung-min completely cut off contact from May 2024. Consequently, on August 1 of the same year, she sent a letter to an overseas production company collaborating with Hwang, explaining their relationship. Unexpectedly, Hwang then filed a stalking complaint against her.

Regarding the stalking accusation, A protested, stating that she sent the letter to the production company because they were already involved in civil and criminal disputes, and she wanted the company to understand the situation before it was affected, not out of malicious harassment. She also refuted Hwang’s claims, stating, “Hwang Jung-min deliberately omitted the context of our interactions, portraying me only as a one-sided stalker.” She believes she has been unfairly treated.

After Hwang Jung-min issued a statement through his agency and filed charges, A continued to release more allegations on Instagram. She accused Hwang of calling her to his home when his wife was away and even telling her he would “devote all his energy to her.”

A also revealed that while Hwang Jung-min was promoting the film Veteran 2 and filming HOPE, he often complained to her about physical fatigue. She offered to prepare Gongjin-dan (a traditional Korean herbal medicine) for him, to which Hwang allegedly replied, “Will it make a man stronger in that area if I take it? If I take it, can I devote all my energy to you? Aren’t you preparing it for me because you want me to use all my stamina on you?”

Furthermore, A released several screenshots of call logs, stating that the KakaoTalk calls displayed as “Old Man” were indeed from Hwang Jung-min. She explained that she changed his contact name to “Old Man” after they had an argument. She claimed they had agreed to temporarily cease contact, but Hwang continued to frequently contact her via international calls, text messages, and KakaoTalk after going abroad, even asking her to tell him erotic stories during a call.

Currently, both sides maintain their conflicting accounts. A continues to release chat logs, audio recordings, and call records to support her claims, while Hwang Jung-min’s side insists that the content has been maliciously edited and reiterates that A is a suspect in a stalking crime. The entire case awaits further clarification from the judiciary.
