IU's Brother Wishes to Earn More Than Her, Gets Hilariously Shut Down Twice

Korean singer IU (아이유) recently enjoyed a Perseid meteor shower outdoors with her younger brother, Lee Jong-hoon (이종훈). What began as a romantic stargazing experience quickly devolved into a hilarious sibling banter session, leaving fans in stitches after IU mercilessly shot down his sincere wishes.

On August 26, IU uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel, showing her lying outdoors, waiting for meteors. She invited her brother to join her, assuring him beforehand that the camera would not show his face to protect his privacy.

Upon learning that her brother had never seen a meteor before, IU advised him to think of his "first life wish" to make when a meteor appeared. To her surprise, his answer was: "To earn more money than you."

IU burst out laughing, seemingly unfazed by her brother's ambitious wish. She jokingly suggested that perhaps in a parallel universe, there exists a brother who earns more than "Ji-eun" (IU's birth name, Lee Ji-eun (이지은)).

However, IU then told her brother to think of a real wish. When he insisted he had already made one, IU immediately retorted, "You need to make a wish that a meteor can actually grant. That one doesn't count."

Eventually, her brother changed his wish, hoping to reduce his body fat to 8% by the end of the year. This wish was also mercilessly shot down by IU. She laughed and teased him, saying, "That's not something a meteor can do. You have to work hard for that yourself. You really don't understand what a wish is."

With both of his wishes rejected by his sister, fans commented that their interaction was a perfect example of "real sibling daily life," finding IU's blunt teasing particularly hilarious.

IU rarely shows her brother publicly and has always tried to keep her family life separate from her entertainment career. This rare glimpse into their private interactions allowed fans to see a more down-to-earth side of her off-camera.

While earning more than a top Korean singer and actress like IU is indeed an incredibly difficult life goal, at least after that evening, Lee Jong-hoon likely learned one thing: relying on a meteor for help is probably not going to work!
