EVNNE, a K-pop boy group formed by Jellyfish Entertainment, originally comprised seven members who all participated in Mnet's survival show “BOYS PLANET” and were affiliated with different agencies. The group officially debuted Sept. 19, 2023, with their first mini-album “Target: ME,” led by KEITA. Following the conclusion of their limited contract, EVNNE will continue as a five-member group—KEITA, Park Han-bin (박한빈), Lee Jeong-hyeon (이정현), Mun Jung-hyun (문정현), and Park Ji-hoo (박지후)—starting in 2026. Yoo Seung-eon (유승언) and Ji Yun-seo (지윤서) officially departed the group due to contract expiration.

Among them, former member Ji Yun-seo, who was under Yuehua Entertainment, recently made a sudden announcement that he would enlist in the military in September. His decision to serve at just 21 years old shocked many fans and drew fierce criticism toward Yuehua Entertainment, with many believing the agency prematurely ended a young idol's career.

Ji Yun-seo personally announced at a recent fan meeting that he would enlist Sept. 14 and serve in the military band. He prepared messages in multiple languages to bid farewell to his international fans, a revelation that left many both shocked and saddened.

However, the enlistment itself sparked less discussion than the fans' collective anger directed at Yuehua Entertainment. They questioned why the agency did not place Ji Yun-seo in the new boy group and2ble after EVNNE's activities concluded, instead leaving him without official activities and unable to debut as an idol for an extended period, ultimately forcing him to choose early enlistment.

Many netizens took to social media to express their outrage, with comments like, “There's absolutely no reason not to let Ji Yun-seo, born in 2004, join and2ble. Why does someone who is only 21 have to go to the military now?”

Another angry fan stated, “Every time I think about this, I get so furious. The company took away a stable entertainment career from a 21-year-old, kicked him out of the group, didn't let him return, didn't let him continue activities, left him with no resources, and finally forced him to enlist. It's truly cruel.”

Furthermore, a Reddit user compiled a detailed timeline of Ji Yun-seo's recent years, analyzing Yuehua Entertainment's arrangements for him. The post quickly garnered significant discussion.

The original poster (OP) pointed out that Ji Yun-seo was inexplicably excluded from the group and may have been affected by non-compete clauses, preventing him from freely pursuing entertainment activities.

The OP emphasized that Ji Yun-seo has never been involved in bullying, violence, or any criminal controversies, and there was no reason for him to be treated this way. “For eight months, fans have continuously reached out through social media and emails, hoping the company would let him return, and have always supported his solo activities.”

The OP believes that what truly pushed fans to their breaking point was Ji Yun-seo's personal announcement of his enlistment at 21. The OP stated that it was clear from Ji Yun-seo's words that he had no choice but to enlist due to his inability to officially promote as an idol and lack of other development opportunities. However, Ji Yun-seo also assured fans that he had not given up on his dream and hoped they would wait for his return.

The OP further asserted, “All of this is Yuehua Entertainment's fault. The company cruelly destroyed a young idol's dream. I will systematically rule out other possibilities to explain why Yuehua Entertainment must be held responsible for this.”

The post resonated with a large number of netizens, many of whom commented to criticize the company.

One netizen commented, “This is probably one of the worst things I've seen an agency do to an idol in recent years. Yuehua is truly unforgivable.”

Another fan sadly stated, “As a fan of Ji Yun-seo, I already knew the whole story, but seeing someone compile it completely still made me want to cry. Especially when someone mentioned that by the time he returns from military service, the time EVNNE spent without him might be longer than the time they were active together. It's truly heartbreaking.”

Another netizen criticized, “Yet another idol sacrificed due to Yuehua Entertainment's incompetence. This isn't the first time this has happened. If Yuehua can treat their senior artists this way, let alone Ji Yun-seo, he truly had no other choice. I hope he gets a chance to return to the stage after his military service.”

Additionally, many netizens called for a boycott of Yuehua Entertainment, believing the company should be held accountable for Ji Yun-seo's current situation. However, some lamented that it remains difficult to generate a sufficiently large boycott movement.
